The MonaCare Family

Founded in 1999 by Dr. Andrew G. Greene, MonaCare was
established to provide institutional care for the elderly with a
special focus on sufferers of Alzheimer's disease. With the ever
increasing elderly population, the busy working class
professionals are finding it increasingly difficult to attend to their
aging loved one in the manner they deserve. The care and
attention required is even greater when these elderly folks also
suffers from Alzheimers.

A nursing home facility - Monacare Geriatric and Convalescent
home, was established in Kingston Jamaica. Since first opening
our doors in November 1999 we have provided excellent medical
and general care to more than 100 residents who have joined our
family. Some have passed along and yet a few that joined in 1999
 are still with us today as we celebrate our 5 anniversary. As much
as 70% of our residents suffer from Alzheimer's disease and our
oldest resident will be 103years old in June 2005. Caring for
Alzheimer's disease sufferers remain quite challenging and
rewarding as we endeavor to improve our services both in training
and upgrading our staff and providing a better facilities for our
residents.

Dr. Greene has extensive experience caring for the elderly. Born in
Westmoreland, Jamaica, he is a graduate of the University of
West Indies class of 1987. After working in the public health care
system for over 6 years he finally established his own private
practice in Kingston Jamaica.

After many years of caring for the elderly both in his private medical practice and institutional type facilities (nursing homes,hospice) he had a vision to
create a facility, owned and managed by a medical doctor , providing excellent accommodation and care for the rapidly expanding elderly population in
Jamaica. Hence the MonaCare family was established. He now dedicates his time between his family practice and providing institutional care for the
elderly at the MonaCare Geriatric and Convalescent Home.
